Crawlaggar

By : Unknown
Horrible being created from the void.
Deprived of conscience, the Crawlaggar wanders aimlessly forever.
He’s condemned to suffer eternal hunger, which makes him extremely angry and desperate if he finds something to eat.
He uses his long and strong arms to crawl over the ground; instinctively searching something to consume. He uses his long tentacle as an antenna to search possible victims. Once he finds one, he changes his shape to become deadlier.
When the crawlaggar starts chasing his victim, he never stops until he loses it or catches it.

Crawlaggars are small compared with other enemies, but it's impossible to jump over them without help.
You will find them from the very beggining of the game. They are the most common enemy.
They can be easily manipulated using blue and green colors, and is easy to use them in your advantatge. They can press buttons or even distract other enemies.

They can be stupid, but they are still dangerous. Born doesn't have natural weapons to defend against them.

Evil makers

A "making of" update!
This time we'll show you some sketches and concepts of the enemies in our game.
They have evolved a lot since these firsts designs. We've been working to make them look creepy, sticky, strange, dangerous and weird.
Now they are fancy and cool, but it's always amusing to check the origins and see where they come from:

Trying other pencil colors.

This one is starting to look awesome. But it's not good enough.

Here you can find better concepts, though they were still not ready:

Enemy concepts

And some of the almost final versions:

As you can see, we have many different foes. All of them are part of the void, just like Born. The main difference is that these monsters have no free will.
Their only objective is to wander through the world, seeking for Born in order to swallow him and return him to the void.

We will introduce them one by one and show their skills and attributes on further updates. Don't lose track!

The world of Nihilumbra

By : Unknown

This is the world of our game.
Born is born in a different place, in the emptiness of the void, but he escapes and he appears in the coldest place of the planet.
The character’s journey goes from the cold to the heat. From the frozen feelings of a new hearth that has never felt and eyes that have never seen; to the comfortable warm of the knowledge, the experience and the love for the world he is discovering. While the traveler keeps learning, and slowly becoming more alive and self-aware, the world seems to accompany him, as it changes from a frozen mountain to a burning volcano.
It's an entire world filled with wonderful things that Born has never seen before. He just wants to know more and more about it, to keep travelling, keep discovering, keep feeling warmer and better... But he's paying a high price.
The void will never stop chasing him and it will vanish everthing that Born sees or touches. All the whole world is doomed and will vanish forever if Born remains alive and escaping.

Meet Born.

By : Unknown
This is Born. I mean... he is Born at the beggining of the game. And he keeps being Born later.
His mere existance is shrouded in mistery. He wasn't supposed to be alive or to have individual thinking, but one day he suddenly appeared in the middle of the supreme void.
His body is made from nothing at all and there's nothing inside it. Inexplicably he started walking by itself, and escaped from the void.
Then he appeared in the world. Like a newborn surrounded by cold and snow, he started his journey trying to learn more about the world that he had just discovered. Like a curious little child that has never been able to decide by himself.
But the void is not going to allow that. It wants to be completed again. It will chase Born relentlessly, like a huge black hole attracted by a gravitational force, deleting everything it finds on its way.
Vanishing the whole world and sinking it into oblivion if it's necessary.

Nihilumbra

It's been a long time since the latest update on the blog.
We have been focused on improving the game and creating more content to show.
And now is the moment to start dropping some information.
First of all: our first game's logo.

Nihil
  • The absence of anything; nothing.

Umbra

  • A shadow.

These two words are really significant in our game. You will understand it better when we explain the plot. On another post. Or posts, because is a really long plot.

We have another logo, which is not official, but it's interesting.
Is this one:
Sadly, there are not pirates in our game. Not even a single one. But the logo rocks.

Blue color

By : Unknown
We are going to reveal a little bit about the gameplay of our game.
This game offers a very original gameplay. You have to paint using your fingers to change the physics of the environment. Different colors will have different effects.
In the middle of the cold of the snow mountains, you will find the blue color, with the power of ice:

This color will allow you to turn the ground into a slippery surface, which will make you gain speed to jump further or make your enemies fall without control.
But those are not the only possibilities... they are just the top of the iceberg.

Yes, a game is being made!

By : Unknown
As you may imagine by the fact that we have included the word "game" in our URL... yes, we are making a game!
An awesome game for iOS devices (that can possibily appear also for Android) which offers an incredibly original gameplay and a complex deep story.
The beta version of the game will be available for trial in the Gamelab 2011 in Barcelona, but you can check some screenshots which show different ingame landscapes below.

And... what's that strange being standing still on every screen? Could it be the main character?
